Maritimo continues an expansion in innovative sports yachts sector. The Australian builder of bespoke luxury motor yachts presents the new X50 yacht that represents an evolution of the XSeries Range developed by leading designer Tom Barry-Cotter. The company plans an official world premiere at the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show in May 2019.
A Revolutionary Concept
The 16-meter X50 and its internationally successful sibling the X60 have re-written the status quo for sport yachts internationally with further breakthroughs in design innovation and technology. The world premiere of the Maritimo X60, the first model in the revolutionary new X-Series range, at the 30th Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show resulted in record sales success, aiding the highest sales record of any boat show in Maritimo’s 15-year history. “With the X50 Maritimo will continue building the momentum. She has generated unprecedented amounts of interest due to its superior accommodation options and incredible price point”, said Craig Harvey, CEO at Spencership, Maritimo’s international sales office based in Monaco. “The X-50 will deliver class leading fuel economy and range, high speed cruising capabilities and the latest technology from the world leaders in shaft driven performance. The X-Series’ innovative design made a strong statement to the industry that Maritimo is a united team committed to further establishing itself as industry leaders continually pushing the boundaries of design and technology.”
Smart and Convenient Layout
From its race infused bloodline, the X50’s powerful exterior form blankets an innovative yet simplistic functional web of expansive customizable arrangements and advanced design features that will be inherent in all X-Series models. The Maritimo X50 design incorporates an innovative aft accommodation space accessible from saloon and swim platform deck. Whilst the balanced aggressive lines of the X50 instill an aura that will make this vessel the envy of all nearby. The customizable aft cabin can be optioned and utilised as a beach club with ensuite, twin single stateroom with ensuite or 3.2-meter tender garage. In addition to that, the new X50 has two large staterooms and ensuites in the forward accommodations.
“By designing the third stateroom to be situated in the aft cabin, it creates much more space to expand the size of the two forward staterooms, incorporating design influences from the X60 accommodations”, said Craig Harvey.
The VIP stateroom design features a unique offset queen bed with VIP ensuite with dual access from stateroom and companionway. The X50 also features a large full beam master stateroom with queen bed standard (king optional), desk, day bed, and spacious ensuite. Integrated hull side windows present panoramic seascapes from each cabin and there are through hull port lights for further ventilation. The saloon design incorporates optional three stage sliding vista windows that flank each side of the hard top letting in unprecedented amounts of light and ventilation when needed. An optional sunroof centered over the galley provides the ability to lighten and ventilate the saloon.
Efficient space
Maritimo being recognized for large household galley designs, have incorporated a spacious galley with island bench, upright fridge freezer, full height pull out pantry, microwave oven, dish drawer, trash receptacle, and multiple storage cupboards and drawers, suitable for all types of meal preparation and entertaining. The performance inspired dashboard and helm, with optional second helm seat and available joystick docking systems, are designed for both comfort and control, instilling the overwhelming impression that it is designed to be driven. Maritimo Racing function and interface experience is noticeable in every detail of the design, catering for the most confident boater to new boat users. The expansive cockpit features an entertainment unit and two opposing euro lounge units that can be combined to form an eight-seat protected dining area. Hallmark secure walk around decks enable safe passage to the forward deck entertainment area with lounge bed with folding backrests.
Racing character
Experience gathered from Maritimo’s international racing development program have been infused into the design and construction of the vessel, as Maritimo continue pushing the boundaries and going further than ever before in hull design, power, construction and propulsion which will see the X50 reach speeds in the vicinity of 36 knots with exceptional cruising economy, trim and handling characteristics. The X50 has gone further than ever in the analysis of waterflow over the hull. All underwater components have been heavily examined and designed with an obsessive consideration of drag reduction. It creates maximum efficiency from the hull profile.
A critical performance factor inherent in all X-Series hull design is the ability to balance the hull through the planing range. Volvo Penta D11 670mhp or 725mhp power units are located further forward to neutrally balance the hull and minimise shaft angle, resulting in increased efficiency from the 5 Blade Nibral propellers and a flat efficient planing attitude, this is made possible by incorporating additional accommodation aft of the engine room. Maritimo’s world renown patented engine room moulding technology provides more strength and weight reduction with added serviceability and reliability. There is ample space to work with the boat systems and engineering compared to any other vessel in its class.
Second model of the X-Series
The first yacht in the X-Series Range from Maritimo, the X60, has already proved to be a great success. The shipyard have sold more than 15 units all over the world in less than half a year after the premiere making it Maritmo’s most successful first release model to date.
